Polymeric sand for paver joints in Jefferson City, MO
Polymeric sand locks washed-out paver joints back down on patios, walks and driveways around Jefferson City. First we pull the old sand and wash the pavers, then we sweep in sand that hardens and holds.
- What it is: re-sanding paver joints with polymeric sand, a joint stabilizing sand that sets firm.
- What is included: pulling old sand and weeds, a wash, drying time, then new sand and a light mist to set it.
- Who it is for: paver patios, walks and driveways with sunken seams, weeds, ants or rocking pavers.
- When to book: when seams open up, on a dry stretch, because rain too soon can wash the sand out.
- How to get a quote: use the online form, or call or text (573) 418-9942 with a photo of the pavers.
Signs your pavers need polymeric sand
Before
- Seams sunk below the paver edge
- Weeds between pavers and ants by the grill
- One paver clicks when you step on it
- Sand on the grass after every storm
After
- Seams filled flush and hard
- Old weeds out, so new seed has little to grab
- Pavers held edge to edge
- Rain runs off the top instead of down the seams
Plain joint sand is loose, so rain carries it off. Slope speeds that up, and the river bluffs around Jefferson City and Holts Summit give plenty of slope. Then ice in open seams pushes pavers apart, and ants and seeds move in.
Polymeric sand, also called joint stabilizing sand, is fine sand blended with a binder. Once it gets wet and cures, it sets firm. It slows weeds and ants, but it does not make a joint last forever.
How we re-sand your pavers
If we skip the wash, the new sand sits on dirt and then lets go. So on concrete pavers we use hot water pressure washing, the same wash behind our concrete cleaning.
Want the paver faces sealed too? Then ask about concrete sealing when you book.
Why joint sand needs a dry weather window
This sand needs dry weather twice. First the seams have to be dry going in, then the sky has to stay dry while it cures.
If rain comes too soon, it can wash the sand out or leave a haze on the pavers. So we may call to move the day when storms show up in the forecast.
At the Lake of the Ozarks, where a patio sits empty all week, we also watch the forecast for you.
Questions about joint sand
Open joints do not fix themselves.
Send a photo of the patio, and we will tell you what the seams need.
