Deck cleaning in Jefferson City, MO: clean, restore or stain?

Deck cleaning in Jefferson City starts with one question. Does your deck need a wash, a full restoration or a new finish? We walk it and tell you which.

Deck cleaning at a glance

  • What it is: a soft wash for wood decks, plus restoration and sealing.
  • What is included: boards, rails and stairs cleaned, then rinsed.
  • Who it is for: wood deck owners from Jefferson City and Columbia to the lake.
  • When to book: before you stain, or once the deck looks green, gray or peeling.
  • How to get a quote: send photos through the bid form, or call or text (573) 418-9942.

How to tell which deck job you need

Try these two quick tests on a few boards.

  • The water test. Flick water on a board. If it beads up, the finish still works. If it soaks in, the finish is gone.
  • The thumbnail test. Scratch a loose spot. If the finish lifts in a sheet, it has failed. But gray powder just means weathered wood.
  • Soft or spongy boards? Tell us first. Some boards are past saving, and we will say so.

Deck cleaning, restoration or a new finish: what each one covers

Since 2013, we have finished 300+ deck jobs. Each one fits one of these three.

Clean

Smallest job
  • Pick it if: the boards are solid and you see green, black spots, gray film or pollen.
  • What we do: a soft wash. We apply our own cleansers at low pressure to boards, rails and stairs, then rinse.
  • Keep in mind: a wash cleans wood but does not protect it. So bare wood needs a new finish too.

Restore

Biggest job
  • Pick it if: the finish is peeling, flaking or stacked in layers.
  • What we do: first we strip the old sealer. Then we clean the wood back to bare boards.
  • Stubborn finish: our mobile media blasting rig uses corn cob, a soft natural media, to take it off.
  • Keep in mind: deck restoration is bigger work than a wash. So the price and the drying time run bigger too.

Seal or paint

In between
  • Pick it if: the wood is clean, bare and dry, and you want it to last.
  • What we do: we seal or paint it. We help you pick the finish when we walk the deck.
  • Keep in mind: every finish wears, and the sunny side wears first. So we tell you what to watch for instead of promising years.

What sets the price of deck cleaning

  • Size and height. More boards, levels and stairs take more time.
  • Railings and spindles. Every spindle has four sides, and we count them.
  • The old finish. None, holding, peeling or layered. This also decides which job you need.
  • Wood condition. Soft or splintered boards change what is safe, so we tell you up front.

Photos get us close. Then a quick walk of the deck settles it.

If the siding next to your deck is green too, a house wash handles it. Plus, the patio below can get concrete cleaning, and lake docks get dock cleaning.

Deck cleaning questions

A wash is enough when the boards are sound and the finish is holding or gone. Stripping is for finish that peels, flakes or sits in layers.
Yes. Soft washing cleans with low pressure and our own cleansers, then rinses, so it does not gouge the grain. If boards are already soft or splintered, we tell you before we start.
Only after the wood dries. That depends on weather, shade and how wet the boards got. We tell you the timing for your deck, because a finish over damp wood peels.
Yes. Sealing or painting is part of our deck work, and it goes on once the wood is clean and dry. If you plan to do it yourself, tell us and we will plan the prep around that.

Know which job your deck needs before you buy the stain.

Send photos or ask for a walk. If a wash will do, we will say so.
